The subjects include the fixed telephone network, mobile networks, packet data networks, radio technologies and optical fibre transmission systems. This course has been designed for those with no previous technical knowledge of networks and their operation.

From this base course, there are a variety of other introductory courses that explore the different technologies in slightly more detail. The subjects include:
- Transmission Networks
- Optical fibre principles and the Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH)
- Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM)
- Ethernet
- Internet Protocol (IP) and related protocols
- Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS)
- Voice over IP (VoIP)
- Signalling Systems
- Radio Principles
- Mobile networks including GSM, GPRS, UMTS, LTE
These courses have been designed to explain the basic operation of the specific system and do not provide ‘in depth’ detail of the subject. For more detailed training events, check out the Intermediate and Advanced Courses. All Lynross courses include interactive participation using exercises, syndicate work and dynamic feedback.
